About Us

Having studied land management at Reading University, Brian Barr Taylor then worked for many years in the environmental sector planning and delivering project work. With a passionate interest in gardening he then decided to move into the horticultural sector and completed a garden design course at Reaseheath College in June 2000. That same year he established himself as a garden designer based in Poynton trading under the name of "Hortulan"and concentrating on the build of gardens. In 2002 a Silver-Gilt medal was obtained for a garden designed and built at the Southport Flower Show.

Since then, the business has developed with the emphasis shifting away from the build of gardens to design. The majority of design work is for individual clients but work is also undertaken for a prestigious interior designer and some developers.

Brian Barr Taylor is an Associate member of the Society of Garden Designers.
